FOUNDER

RODRIGO GUTIERREZ

Corialent

12 years ago, Rodrigo decided that the Coca Colas of the world shouldn’t be the only ones who get to have all the fun in the advertising industry. He was sick of all the dull, corporate, navy blue and white B2B work out there. Business people are people too. Corialent specializes in B2B marketing that doesn’t suck. And they want to get the rest of the industry drinking that delicious KoolAid.

Cold Calling Training

Cold Calling is probably the most over used sales technique in existence. A hot and popular sales technique, it's often used by entrepreneurs just looking to make it in their own businesses. For those of us who have successfully cold called others, there is nothing more effective than solid training to help you master this powerful sales technique. With a solid cold calling training program, you can become a much better sales professional and gain increased success with your own business. Read on to find out how you can improve your cold calling skills and achieve more success in your own life.

One extremely important cold calling tip that can have a dramatic impact on your success rate is to learn how to keep your clients attention. There are several things that happen when you cold call or try to contact someone. First, your prospect may be having a stressful day and may not feel like talking to you. It's important to always make sure that you're keeping them entertained and that their mind is not totally shut off to you.

Another key point to remember is that when you first begin doing any kind of selling, it's very easy to get lost in the hype of it all. If you're going to succeed with your cold calling efforts, you need to maintain your poise and remain as relaxed and comfortable as possible. A good way to do this is to use your favorite sales tactic to start your conversation. Something like, "you must have seen us on television" or "have you ever heard about our product?"

Once you've started getting some solid cold calling tips, you need to remember to introduce yourself properly. To start, you should always put your full name. Some people feel uncomfortable doing this, but it's crucial that you don't hide your identity. If someone is calling you with a fake name, they will quickly be able to spot the truth and this can be a huge turn off. If you can't stand having to introduce yourself, ask them for their name.

Another important aspect of successful cold calling tips is that you should never try and sell a product or service to anyone you don't truly know. Don't give them your personal information or ask for bank account numbers. Make your lines more friendly, and if they seem interested in what you have to say, then all you have to do is follow up with some free advice or a product recommendation. Whatever it is you have to offer, make sure it's something the prospect will value.

One more critical cold calling tip is that you should never leave the prospect on the end of the phone. When a person leaves the phone with someone they don't want to talk to, it's often because they didn't leave a lasting message. Try and make your sales conversation short, and be sure to use the opportunity to mention how happy you are that they called you. Leaving people on the end of a sales conversation is one of the most common ways to end the conversation on the wrong foot.

It's easy to see that many people don't take the time to really think about the various steps that will help them to increase their success with cold calls. The best way to avoid these kinds of mistakes is to take some training or learn a few techniques so that you can quickly identify the right path for yourself. However, the majority of people who are approaching sales as their bread and butter simply don't understand the importance of knowing how to effectively handle these calls and can't seem to get the hang of it.

So here are your three important steps for making cold calls and turning them into successes. When you're done, make sure you test out a couple of these ideas and see which one works best for you. And remember, if you can do it well, you'll be able to use these same techniques to sell anything you want, to anyone you want and in any quantity or at any price. So what are you waiting for? The next steps are: Identify your prospect, develop a collaborative language strategy and test out a few ideas.
